Overview
Java is a programming language and computing platform first released by Sun Microsystems in 1995.
It is the underlying technology that powers state-of-the-art programs including utilities, games, and business applications. Java runs on more than 850 million personal computers worldwide, and on billions of devices worldwide, including mobile and TV devices.
Why the discontinuation of Java 1.4
Java version 1.4 has been discontinued as it is no longer supported by the vendor Sun Microsystems.
Please Note: Standard Bank will no longer support java version 1.4 because it has reached end of life and more importantly also as a result of the security vulnerabilities identified on this version of Java.
To ensure your continued online security, it is imperative that all Business Online users that are still using Java 1.4 upgrade to Java 1.6 or above.
